321/365: It’s a Shoe

For the last few days I’ve been helping teach the students in the AGCM photo 1 class about studio lights. Every student brought an item they’d like to take a photo of, and then we light them all sorts of ways.

The most part of it is a typical lighting in a little studio light box. It’s nice quick and teaches about lights without going to deep in the subject. We want them to learn a little, but don’t want to scare them off.

Today one of the groups I helped brought a pair of shoes. We did the traditional lighting of them, but then did some more untraditional lighting.

We went with a strobe behind the shoe, then an umbrella strobe in front. I decided to take a few photos myself, and I turned off the front strobe.

It’s a silhouette of a silhouette.
