237/365: Jamming in front of KD

Tonight we got the band back together! Actually it’s not so much a band but more like a group of friends playing instruments in high traffic areas.

There are a handful of individuals that play with us that are very musically talented. Ray, Naho, Amy and Tyler (pictured) are great musicians. The other individuals that play with us are good but I haven’t really played much with them so I don’t know how good.

I know I’m just a beginner, and I probably bring the whole group down a level or two, but I’m the only banjo player in the group so I have to show up and lay down the beat.

It’s one of the best ways to learn, playing with others is so much more fun then playing by my self in my room. It’s so nice when a band comes together and plays something good enough for someone to stop and listen.

If you’re around campus and like to play an acoustic instrument (we have guitars, fiddles, my banjo, mandolins and harmonicas) let me know I’m sure we have room for you to come play. If you just like to sing, I know we’d enjoy to have you come sing some songs, or if you just want to hang out and listen your welcome to come.

Just let me know, and I’ll let you know when we’ll be playing.

As for this photo I shot it with a flash to camera right. I had an flash at 1/8 power behind a big white umbrella.

I had another friend hold the umbrella down and up, so the light splashes into Tyler’s face.

I wanted to expose KD in the background, but the sun was going down fast. So I dropped the shutter speed down, to about 1/30 or 1/15th a second. This causes the blurry background.

It also causes the blur that surrounds Tyler, because the flash did not hit those areas. Tyler himself is frozen because of the blast of the flash.

I hope everyone had a great day,
